Gi BJJ
The word “gi” means “clothes” in Japanese. In Brazilian jiu jitsu, a gi is the robe-style top and drawstring pants that make up the discipline’s formal uniform. A jiu jitsu gi differs from gis (or kimonos) in other disciplines.
Gi BJJ has more moves and positions to be learned. You have to be more patient, precise, and technical in your execution to finish a submission.
FEMALE FRIENDLY
DJA Adelaide is an inclusive and values based club that welcomes people from all backgrounds, genders and skill levels.
Our club is female friendly offering dedicated female changes rooms, showers and female training partners.
The popularity of BJJ among females continues to increase. It teaches self defence, confidence and endurance.
NO-Gi BJJ
No-Gi BJJ means to grapple without the use of the traditional uniform.
Most people use rash guards when training.
No-Gi BJJ has a much more dynamic feel. The pace is usually faster due to the limited grips available which teaches you positional dominance without depending on things like the Gi.
THE STUDIO
DJA Adelaide is privileged to have an ongoing partnership with Aikido Adelaide and share their purpose fit Dojo space in Hawthorn.
